HOW MUCH IS A PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION?
At Studio | Erik Sawaya, we work on 100% risk free model.
Before the shoot, you're only responsible for line items such as make-up, location or any specialised sets and materials you need, there's no upfront creative fee and no session fees. Love your images or don't buy them. That's our stamp of 100% Satisfaction Guaranteed.
HOW DO I SEE THE RESULTS AND ORDER MY IMAGES?
Following our shoot, you'll receive an email with a private viewing gallery. You'll see the 'raw' images straight out of camera. These are not yet edited in any way.
On your private viewing gallery, you'll be able to order images by adding them to your cart and checking out with a direct transfer or any major credit card. Once we receive your order, we'll begin processing your images.

WHEN CAN I EXPECT MY IMAGES?
Usually you'll receive your proof gallery within a week of your shoot. After placing your order you can expect to wait up to 3 weeks for your images to be processed and delivered, depending on our current load. We pay extra close attention to detail and each image takes up to 2 hours for hand corrected colour and detail retouching. If you have any special requests, be sure to let us know as soon as you place your order. Any request after delivery may incur additional fees.
HOW DO YOU RETOUCH MY IMAGES?
Each image is retouched by hand and the process can take up to 2 hours to create your finished product for a standard edit.
Our emphasis is always natural. A lot of the work goes into colour correction, along with dodge and burning to bring out highlights and shadows. That's what makes you pop! We retouch skin in a gentle way, taking away red eyes or blemishes and spots that are non-permanent only. Fine film grain is also added for warmth and a natural analog look when printed.
Heavy retouching, for example, changing backgrounds, masking (cutting out) or altering physical futures will need to be discussed prior to edit and may incur additional fees as it increases the amount of time spent per image.
WHERE'S THE STUDIO?
Erik and his team are experts at building sets and studios location. We come to your office, your home, your school and we'll build the set. We're also happy to host you in a professional photography studio that meets your requirements and that's located near you for convenience.
We often team up with academy's, schools and institutions to bring a studio to you, ask your place of study if we're coming in the near future, if not put us in touch and we'll set it up.
HEADSHOTS VS EDITORIAL PORTRAIT?
Headshots are tightly frame portraits. Erik's distinctive style is bright white background that makes you pop and gives beautiful life to your headshot with a modern look. Editorial portraits tend to be a wider frame, up to full body. The lighting is tailored to add mood and depth to your character. Erik hand paints custom canvas backdrops for editorial that add amazing mood and tone to your images. Headshots take up about 20-30 minutes, whereas editorial sessions need at least 1 hour.
PREMIUM PORTFOLIOS VS AUDITION SESSIONS?
Premium Portfolio sessions are tailored to you. Together we pick creative poses to give your sessions more flair. Furthermore, your images are professionally, hand-retouched to give them a magazine ready look and prints deserving large format printing for your walls.
Audition sessions are tailored for the schools and companies. The poses are stock standard and the images are delivered straight out of camera without any retouching or studio flair.
WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A PREMIUM PORTFOLIO SESSION?
Duration: Premium Portfolio Sessions are a total of 1 hour in duration.
Outfits: There's no limit to outfit changes, however each change takes away from your shooting time. We recommend up to 3 outfit changes, being 10 minutes early and ready to go at the time of your appointment. Outfits can be classical, contemporary or even your warm up gear will look great. A simple leotard, no tights and shoes always look fabulous for a modern era look.
Posing: It's a good idea to prepare the poses you'd like to attempt. Not every idea will work, so it's good to have a few backups too. Typically, we'll be able to try 5 during our shoot, so come with up to 20 ideas and let's work on that magic! Just how you rehearse before a show or competition, we encourage you to practice before your session so you get the most out of your time.
Hair and Makeup: We encourage a natural look. Less really is more! Youtube is filled with great tutorials on this. If you don't normally wear makeup, don't start today. Absolutely no stage makeup. Hair can be worn up or down, this is your preference.
Tip: We recommend you stay away for salty and fatty foods up to 7 days before your session to give your skin a healthy look. Also you should try to double your water intake.
Parents: We encourage parent to drop off the students at the sessions and wait outside the studio area. Working one on one allows for the most productive, distraction-free environment, producing higher quality results.
HOW DOES AN AUDITION SESSION WORK?
Duration: Audition Sessions are a total of 30 mins in duration.
Outfits: A simple leotard. Tights and shoes are a preference to the place you're applying to, research this ahead of time.
Posing: Schools may vary. Please bring a specific list with you. Here's an example of Royal Ballet's requirements.
DO YOU HAVE A WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECK?
